Snake River Animal Shelter host Mardi Paws Gala to save animals

There is a huge party happening for the animals in need. This is the fourteenth year the snake river animal shelter has hosted a Fur Balls Fundraiser. It’s not just one big celebration. This is the Snake River Animal Shelter’s biggest fundraiser of the year. They’re raising money for the homeless animals in the area. The Executive Director of the Animal Shelter Kristin Sanger said, “We made seventy-four thousand last year. We hope to beat that this year.” According to the shelter, there are more animals in need this year than ever. The medical needs of the animals are the biggest thing that they target for this event. They are hoping that people will come to enjoy the event and help raise as much money as possible for the animals. Gary Smith a Volunteer at the Snake River Animal Shelter says, “The fundraiser generates income to support the Snake River Animal Shelter and because we are a no-kill facility, we adopt out about a thousand animals a year. So, save the lives for about a thousand animals.” Every year the theme for the Fur Balls Fundraiser is different. This years theme is Mardi Paws. Sanger says, “Mardi Paws has been at the top of our list. So let’s do this Louisiana style. We’re too far from Louisiana to go down and party so let’s bring the party to us.” A reservation to the event went for $75 per person and this year they sold 386 tickets. The gala is including an auction and will be selling King Cake to the guest. where all proceeds will all go towards raising money for the animals in the shelter. This years gala is booked but you can still make it to next years event which will be a luau theme. They hold these events every year during the first Saturday of March.
