Former Bear Lake Sheriff nominated as US Marshal

Former Bear Lake County Sheriff Brent Bunn was nominated by the Trump Administration Friday night to serve as United States Marshal for the District of Idaho.

Bunn is a native of Montpelier. He graduated from Bear Lake High School and Brigham Young University. He has more than 41 years of law enforcement experience. He served 32 years as Bear Lake County Sheriff before retiring in 2016.

Idaho Senator Mike Crapo is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which has jurisdiction over Bunn’s nomination.

“Brent’s extensive career serving the people of Idaho as a dispatcher, patrolman, deputy sheriff and sheriff make him a considerably qualified fit for the U.S. Marshals Service,” said Crapo. “He has earned the respect of his colleagues as demonstrated by his various leadership positions through the Idaho Sheriffs Association, the Idaho Counties Risk Management Program and the Idaho Association of Counties. He will serve Idaho well.”

The Judiciary Committee has not yet set a nomination hearing.
