More than 100 students to put on popular musical Newsies

History is being made with the Idaho Falls School District 91 high school musical that opens Thursday night.

They are the first group in Idaho Falls to put on the popular musical “Newsies,” and they have the biggest cast ever — more than 100 students.

Also unique about this show is that the cast is made up of students and orchestra from all three high schools in the district — not just one.

The students are excited about the show and the whole experience.

“I’d say the best thing about being in these productions is the friendships you make because literally all my closest friends are in this production and I’ve made so many new friends and I can’t think of a better way to spend time than with people who are talented land you love,” said Emily McAllister.

Newsies runs Thursday through next Tuesday at the Compass Academy auditorium, 955 Garfield.

Performances are planned at 7 p.m. March 7, 8, 9, 11 and 12 with a new matinee performance at 1 p.m. on March 9. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children.
