Woman sentenced for taking meth into jail

A woman who smuggled methamphetamine into a Wyoming jail and distributed it to other inmates will spend up to six years in prison.

The Gillette News Record reported Thursday 23-year-old Hallie Stratton was sentenced after pleading guilty to charges of taking drugs into jail and delivery of meth.

Authorities say Stratton hid the meth inside her body when she was booked into the Campbell County jail on misdemeanor possession of marijuana and meth in April 2018.

According to court documents, Stratton gave the meth to two women who were incarcerated on drug charges.

Stratton told the judge that she hopes to work on her addiction issues while in prison.

She said she had been sober for more than a year before the “major relapse” landed her jail.
