Inergy working to empower the world

Pocatello based solar energy company Inergy is working on its new EMPOWER initiative, “an ongoing effort to provide renewable, reliable power to people in need around the world.”

The group has been working to provide those in need with renewable energy for several years, even donating more than $350,000 worth of solar kits last year.

The company uses a portion of each sale to help fund the program.

President Jared Grover knows that the company’s goals are ambitious, but he still pushes to help as many people as possible.

“Our long term goal with this project is to bring the world renewable power. They call it energy poverty because energy, really power, really is the foundation of advancement in the modern society,” Grover said. “Without power, everything is much much harder.”

“So our goal is to end energy poverty and bring power to the world. It’s an ambitious goal but anything short of that is just not enough,” he explained.

Last year, Inergy traveled south and donated over $100,000 worth of products to families with unstable power after Hurricane Maria. That trip left an impact on many who went.

“That was a real revelation to us, to see just how important power is to people,” Grover said, explaining that he’d seen families lose loved ones due to an inability to power machines keeping them alive. “That was a huge realization for us.”

This year, they plan to surpass the more than $350,000 total donated last year, with no cap to how much they’ll give.

“We want to beat that this year for sure and there’s no limit to what we’re willing to stop at,” Grover explained. “We want to make an impact. “
