City of Chubbuck awarded $250K grant

The City of Chubbuck recently received a $250,000 grant from the state, as part of its “surplus eliminator” bill.

The funds will go towards improving child pedestrian safety in the area around Chubbuck Elementary School.

Mayor Kevin England said city plans to “match” the grant with $50,000 of its own, making it a $300,000 project.

“What we’re going to do with it is replace some crumbling sidewalks, we’re gonna put some sidewalks in where sidewalks are not, we’re going to improve crosswalks with signage and striping,” England said.

“We are also going to improve the A.D.A. accessibility in the area.”

England said construction should begin once the academic year ends and he hopes it’s done before the students return.
