Cache Creek road trailheads closed

A portion of the Cache Creek Road accessing the Nelson Drive trailhead has been temporarily closed.

The Bridger Teton National Forest said the parking area is also closed to allow road crews to install a new culvert. The culvert will alleviate flooding at Cache Creek and help protect the road.

Due to warm temperatures, the snow floor accessing the trail heads deteriorated significantly over the weekend.

Road crews will clear away as much slush as possible, which will allow the road to dry more quickly.

Jackson District Ranger Mary Moore is asking for patience. “If people can hold off driving to these trailheads for a little while, we can avoid damage to the road surface,” she said.

She said the road would be reopened as soon as snow melts out and the road dries enough to sustain traffic. The trail heads are still accessible by foot or bike travel.
