Update: Rocco Chacon Jr. files lawsuit against police in 2017 shooting, chase

UPDATE 3/29/19 10:51 a.m.: Rocco Chacon Jr. has filed a lawsuit against 17 people connected to this case, including seven Idaho State Police troopers.

In the filings, Chacon’s attorneys claim officers waited for him and his girlfriend to leave their home before boxing them in using all unmarked police cars.

His attorneys also claim none of the officers were in uniform when they drew their guns on him.

Chacon claims he sped-off since he had no idea he was being stopped by police officers, leading to a high-speed chase through Bannock County and ending with police shooting his girlfriend in the passenger seat.

In March 2018, the Bannock County Prosecutor’s Office finished its investigation, saying ISP was justified in firing their guns.
