Woman accused of setting fire to LDS church buildings

Authorities say an 18-year-old woman set fire to buildings belonging to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Orem.

KUTV in Salt Lake City reported Monday indicate Jillian Robinson could face charges of burglary, criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools.

According to court documents, police responded to reports of a fire at a church early Friday just before 2 a.m.

They found several small fires and two shattered glass entrance doors.

Police then found damage and smelled gasoline at a second church building. An officer saw Robinson and ran her license plate, which was connected to drug cases.

The officer says she had a marker, lighter, matches and a bottle that smelled like gas.

She was subsequently arrested.

It wasn’t immediately known if she had an attorney.
