Lima earthquake felt in Rexburg area

An earthquake and an aftershock shook southern Montana and Eastern Idaho Tuesday.

A 4.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 12:08 p.m. local time, according to the USGS and University of Utah seismologists.

The epicenter of the quake was about 6 miles northeast of Lima, Montana and about 70 miles from Rexburg. Some people in the Mud Lake and Rexburg areas said they could feel it. There were no immediate reports of damage.

The main quake was followed by a magnitude 3.2 quake at 12:11 p.m.

There have also been at least 4 smaller quakes in the magnitude 2 range, as aftershocks to the main 4.4 quake.
