Program offers college students free wisdom teeth extractions

Oral Surgery Specialists of Idaho launched a new program called Wisdom For Wisdom to help ease the financial burden for students struggling to afford higher education.

Dr. Mark Baker and Dr. Shawn Jepsen designed the program to offer free wisdom teeth extractions to help offset college costs.

“As an oral surgeon, I understand how expensive it is to earn a degree,” Dr. Baker said. “The amount of time it takes to train to be an oral surgeon is lengthy, and while it wasn’t as costly when I was in school as it is now, the many years of higher education and training I completed wasn’t low-cost. That’s why we wanted to help support local education and offer this program to students who might not have the resources for a wisdom teeth extraction and college expenses.”

Students can apply on Oral Surgery Specialists of Idaho’s website from April 17 through April 30.

To apply, students will watch a video, take a short quiz and submit a 250-word essay about the wisdom teeth removal procedure.

Two students will be selected for free wisdom teeth extractions. The winners will be announced on May 1.
