Trial date set for Challis man accused of shooting woman in the head

A trial date has been set for a Challis man accused of shooting a 75-year-old woman in the head.

Mark Charles Wilson, 53, appeared in the Jefferson County Court this afternoon. Wilson is accused of the murder of Patricia Ann Brown in March 2018. Wilson is charged with first-degree murder, premeditated by poison, torture, vengeance, extortion or sadistic inclinations. If found guilty, Wilson faces a minimum 10 years to life in prison and fined $50,000.

He is also charged with enhancement use of a deadly weapon. If found guilty, that increases the original minimum charge by up to 15 years in prison.

Wilson plead not guilty to both those charges.

The jury trial will begin on June 3 in Jefferson County. The trial was originally set to take place in Custer County in December 2018, but was moved to Jefferson County.
