Truck drives into ditch near broken water main

Blackfoot police are responding to an accident involving a pickup truck driving into a ditch.

According to Lt., Gordon Croft with the Blackfoot Police Department tells Local News 8 and KIDK Eyewitness News 3 the street near Walmart was closed for road construction to repair some leaks in the water main.

The driver of the pickup truck drove through the closed section which is Parkway, between Jensen’s Grove drive and Meridian.

The driver drove into a ditch where crews for the Blackfoot City Water Department were working.

The driver was not under the influence.

Lt. Croft says the driver was found to be sober and was not aware of the construction zone.

The city still has water running for residents in the city through an alternate water line.

Drivers are asked to avoid the closed area.
