Bill’s Bike and Ride launches school challenge

After two vehicle-bicycle accidents in two days, a primer on bicycle safety was welcome at Ethel Boyce Elementary School Thursday.

Representatives of Bill’s Bike and Run and Bonneville Metropolitan Planning Office spoke to an assembly at the school. They outlined bicycle safety rules and details about an annual Bill’s Bike and Run contest.

Students who ride their bikes to school in 12 of 15 days between May 6 and May 24 will qualify to win a free bicycle. Bill’s Bike and Ride will award one bike in 26 Idaho Falls schools at the end of the challenge. Over 5,500 riders completed the challenge last year and more than 6,000 were expected to participate this year.
