Brandon Boyd announces he is leaving Idaho State

Brandon Boyd will be finishing his college basketball career in a different uniform. The guard from Los Angeles announced on Twitter Thursday afternoon that he will be transferring from Idaho State.

In the tweet, Boyd thanked the Bengal fans and the Pocatello community, writing “this Pocatello community welcomed me with open arms and gave me nothing but love and confidence to grow to be myself. We celebrated together through all the highs and you still believed in me thorughout the lows and for that, I am forever greateful.”

Boyd would go to thank his teammates and former coach Bill Evans and his staff for “being the only Division 1 school that gave me the opportunity to play the game [he loves] at the next level.”

During his time in Pocatello, Boyd earned All-Big Sky honorable mention twice and was named the Big Sky top reserve in for the 2017-2018 season.

Boyd entered the grad transfer portal after Idaho State announced they would not renew the contract for Bill Evans, but told ESPN he would wait and see how the coaching search turned out before making a final decision.

Ryan Looney was introduced as the new mens basketball coach on April 19.
