Authorities: Twin babies likely died in co-sleeping accident

The Twin Falls County prosecuting attorney says twin infants who died last fall likely suffocated after their sleeping mother rolled on top of them in bed.

Prosecutor Grant Loebs says the babies’ deaths were accidental and no charges will be filed. The twin boys were just seven weeks old when they died in their Twin Falls home on Oct. 12.

Loebs said in a prepared statement the forensic investigation also showed the babies had a small amount of methamphetamine in their systems from being in a home where drugs were being used. He said the meth did not cause their deaths.

Two people who lived at the home were charged and convicted of possession of meth.

Loebs said the evidence showed the infants’ co-sleeping deaths were horrific accident, not a crime.
