Online high school students meet for the first time for graduation ceremony

Students from a fully-online public school will meet their classmates for the first time their graduation ceremony.

The Idaho Virtual Academy is a public charter school that is taught entirely online with participating students across the state.

This will be the third graduation for the academy for students who live in southeast Idaho. This year, the academy is graduating 164 seniors statewide, 25 of them are local students.

“So they may have seen each other’s names, heard each other’s voices, learned each others learning styles or worked with them on things. But, for a lot of them, it’ll be the first time they meet face to face,” director for Idaho Virtual Academy, Kelly Edginton said.

The year’s class has collectively received more than 500 thousand dollars in scholarships.
