Faulty lamp blamed for Idaho Falls house fire
UPDATE: 8:30 a.m.
The Idaho Falls Fire Department said a fire in the 2000 block of Bodily Circle was started by a malfunctioning lamp. The lamp then caught a small table and its contents on fire.
Three adults were inside the home, but evacuated without injury.
Firefighters contained the fire to the bedroom, but there was smoke damage throughout the home. The fire department estimated damages at around $10,000.
The home had working smoke detectors, which did activate.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Idaho Falls Fire crews were called to a report of a structure fire on the east side of the city around 10:30 P.M. Thursday night.
Fire crews arrived seeing flames and smoke inside a home at the corner of Tyra Drive and Bodily Circle, just off John Adams Parkway.
Fire crews were able to quickly contain and extinguish the fire. Crews were beginning to clear the fire scene around 11 P.M.
At this time, there are no reports of any injuries. The cause is under investigation and there is no word yet on the amount of damage inside the home.
Several fire engines responded along with two city ambulances and assistance from IFPD.
