Henrry’s Fork kayaker rescued

Fremont County Search and Rescue brought a Texas woman to safety after she was left stranded on a boulder in the Henry’s Fork of the Snake River. The incident happened around 11:21 a.m Thursday.

The 65-year-old woman from Zavalla, Texas was kayaking with a male companion below Riverside Campground, south of Island Park. Rescuers found her safe, but cold, on a boulder. Her companion was waiting on-shore.

Search members found her about 30 feet from shore and helped her back to the west bank of the river. They walked her back to base camp with her companion. His kayak was carried back by Search and Rescue team members, who then transported the pair back to where they were staying.
