Blackfoot man charged with attempted strangulation

A Blackfoot man is being held in the Bingham County Jail after he allegedly attacked a woman Saturday.

Blackfoot Police Captain Gordon Croft said officers were called to the 400 block of South Meridian at around 6:30 p.m.

Upon investigation, a female victim reported K.C. Coffey, 27, forced entry into her home and nearly strangled her to unconsciousness. The woman managed to run away to a neighbor’s house where she contacted police.

Coffey was arrested Saturday. He was formally charged Monday on charges of felony attempted strangulation, malicious injury to property, and obstructing a police officer. Bail was set at $50,000.
