Fire destroys Ashton cabin
Fire totally destroyed a home in the North Fork Highlands Subdivision northeast of Ashton.
According to Fremont County Emergency Management, the North Fremont Fire Department found the home fully engulfed in fire when they arrived at 1:54 p.m. Sunday. The fire was called in by a neighbor, who first spotted it.
The South Fremont Fire Department also responded to assist with fire control and water shuttles.
The owners of the home were home, but escaped the flames safely.
Fire officials said it was an especially dangerous fire due to outside air temperatures of 94 degrees and the fire itself burning fast and hot due to heavy fuel loading.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and Fremont County EMS also responded to help monitor firefighters for heat stress and dehydration.
