Bannock County orders burn ban
Dry, hot weather conditions have prompted the Bannock County Commission to order a ban on open fires through October 1.
In a resolution, commissioners pointed out there have been several recent fires in the area that posed real threats to the community.
It also reflected the fact that open fire in dry conditions can create the potential for wildfire that could endanger people and property.
The ban includes all open fires in the unincorporated areas of Bannock County effective immediately.
It does not include propane and charcoal briquette BBQ grills, burn barrels or designated fire pits. Some individual fire districts and federal lands may have different regulations in force.
