BLM Fire Engine finds new life of service
Eighteen years ago Idaho Falls Bureau of Land Management District Fire Captain Wade Christopherson met Engine 3482 as it came off the factory line in Indianapolis. He drove the fire truck cross-country to its assignment in Malad.
Today, Christopherson picked up a new replacement truck in Idaho Falls and took it back to Malad. Engine 3482 was officially retired from BLM service.
But it won’t be out of service for long. The fire engine is being surplussed through the BLM’s Rural Fire Readingess program. BLM said it will soon find a new home with the Inkom Fire Department.
