Treasureton Fire at 200 acres and growing
Update 8-16 8:25 a.m.
The “Treasureton” fire, located about 13 miles north of Preston, was mapped at 363 acres Friday morning.
The fire was started by farm equipment on private, forested land between Treasureton Road and Johnson Road at around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
The fire was 75% contained, with full containment expected by 10 p.m. Friday.
In addition to Franklin County firefighters, the fire is manned with 5 engines, 2 dozers, a water tender, 1 helicopter, and 2 BLM and Forest Service hand crews.
There are no structures threatened at this time.

Fire crews are responding to a fire that started around 3:30 Thursday afternoon.
It is called the Treasureton Fire.
It is about five miles north of Preston, near Treasureton.
It is about 200 acres and is continuing to grow.
Five engines, two dozers, one water tender, four single engine air tankers, two heavy air tankers and a helicopter are on the fire.
There are some buildings in the area but none are immediately threatened.
There are no evacuations or closures at this time.
