Wanted man incarcerated on several outstanding warrants
UPDATE 8/16/19 2:00 p.m. Police have released an update to the case involving Samiir Afraid of Bear who was wanted on several outstanding warrants and his subsequent arrest Thursday.
Afraid of Bear was incarcerated on several outstanding warrants listed below:
Bingham County: 3 counts of burglary, 1 count of robbery, and 1 count of aggravated battery all charges are felonies. Bannock County: 1 Count of misdemeanor petit theft.
The Bannock County Prosecutor’s Office filed one count of felony burglary from a case in July on Friday. Afraid of Bear was also charged with felony escape and felony injury to jail property in regards to damage to the police vehicle.

UPDATE: 2:04 p.m. Chubbuck Police say Samiir Afraid Of Bear was taken into custody at a residence on Mesquite Dr. in Chubbuck Thursday afternoon.Police say many tips came in from the community that assisted in locating the suspect.
Officials are still actively working this case and anticipate additional charges in the coming days to be filed against Afraid Of Bear.

ORIGINAL STORY:
The Chubbuck Police Department and the US Marshal’s Service were able to locate Samiir Afraid Of Bear on Adams St in Chubbuck Thursday around 8:30 a.m.
He was taken into custody on his warrants; however, he was able to break out the window of a police car and flee the area on foot.
Police have searched the immediate area for him and still have several law enforcement agencies assisting with the search; however, at this point, he has not been located.
Afraid of Bear is wanted on several outstanding warrants and is considered armed and dangerous.
He is described as a 27-year-old Native American male 5 foot 8 inches tall and 168 pounds. He was last seen wearing all black clothing.
