Saturday night car crash puts three people in hospital

Three people are in a hospital after a car crash in Bingham County late Saturday night.

According to the Idaho State Police, a juvenile male driver and a juvenile passenger were headed north on U.S. 91 at milepost 113.4, near Basalt around 9:50 p.m. The driver fell asleep at the wheel and veered into the southbound lane. The car crashed into 33-year-old Tomas R. Lizarraga’s vehicle head-on.

Both the juvenile driver and Lizarraga were wearing seat belts. The juvenile passenger was not.

All three people were sent to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls by ambulance.

Both the northbound and southbound lanes were blocked for two and a half hours.
