Welcome home party planned for Bandits
Update: 8/22/2019 6:30 p.m.: Hundreds of people came out to cheer on the Idaho Falls Bandits as they paraded through Idaho Falls Thursday afternoon.
While riding a fire truck along Memorial way to the Bonneville Courthouse, the Idaho Falls Bandits waved and greeted spectators with big smiles.
The team won the American Legion World Series Wednesday beating North Dakota.
Governor Brad Little proclaimed Thursday as “Idaho Falls Bandits Day.”

The party began Wednesday morning when the Idaho Falls Bandits beat North Dakota 5-3 to win it all.A ground out to second base was the final out that clinched the American Legion World Series championship for the Bandits.
A big celebration is planned to celebrate their historic win. The team is flying home from Carolina Wednesday night. The team will land in Salt Lake City around 10:30 p.m. and then shuttle up to Idaho Falls and are expected to arrive at Melaleuca Field around 2 a.m. Thursday.
Everyone is invited to greet the team, and event organizers are urging you to come out and give them a welcome home worthy of a national champion.There will also be a welcome home ceremony for the team starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Line up on Memorial Drive from Broadway to the Bonneville County Courthouse and wear your Bandit red and blue.
The team will be brought down the street on a fire truck, and a ceremony will follow at the courthouse followed by ice cream, hot dogs and music at the courthouse.
