Geologist to seek Wyoming US Senate seat

A geologist who has never held statewide public office has announced he is running for the Wyoming U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Republican Mike Enzi.

R. Mark Armstrong, of Centennial, tells the Laramie Boomerang he will run as a Republican. Former U.S. Rep. Cynthia Lummis is the only other announced GOP candidate for the job.

A native of Laramie, Armstrong says he’s tired of seeing the millionaires in political office continuously representing big corporations instead of the Wyoming people.

He also says he supports the state’s economic drivers, such as cattle ranching and the energy sector, including “clean coal and natural gas.”
