Train strikes grain truck near Bancroft

A truck driver escaped injury at around 8 p.m. Saturday when his trailer was hit by a train near Bancroft.

The Caribou County Sheriff’s Office reports the driver said he stopped at the railroad track, but did not see a train coming. When the trailer was about centered over the track, the approaching train struck it.

The trailer was loaded with grain, but the accident had been cleared from the track by Monday.

Because it involved a commercial vehicle, Idaho State Police has taken over the investigation.
