Salmon-Challis names Deputy Supervisor

Heather DeGeest has been named Deputy Forest Supervisor for the Salmon-Challis National Forest. Since 2013, she has been serving as District Ranger on the Helena Ranger District on the Helena National Forest.

DeGeest, a Minnesota native, began her career as a silviculturist on the Gallatin National Forest and on the Northern Region Timber Strike Team.

In Helena, she helped advance a multi-use project to accelerate and maximize landscape-scale hazardous fuels treatments and helped engage local involvement in a forest plan revision.

“Heather brings wide-ranging experiences along with management and coordination with of a variety of stakeholders, says Charles A. Mark, Forest Supervisor, “I’m very much looking forward to Heather joining our Forest Leadership Team.”
