Nominees named to replace Madison County Magistrate

Six people are being considered to replace Madison County Magistrate Judge Mark Rammell. Rammell has announced he will retire from the post on December 31, 2019.

The six applicants being considered by the Seventh Judicial District Magistrates Commission are Ada County Deputy Prosecutor David Hunt, Idaho Falls Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey Thomason, Fremont County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Brock Bischoff, attorney Sean Bartholick of Rigby, Andrus, and Rigby law firm in Rexburg, attorney Manuel Murdoch of Blackfoot, and attorney Joshua Garner of Rexburg.

The Magistrates Commission will meet November 15 to select a replacement for Rammell.

Evaluation questionnaires are being sent to attorneys across the state. Questionnaires to allow the public to comment are available through the Madison County Clerk of the District Court at 519 E. Main Street in Rexburg, or the Seventh District Trial Court Administrator’s Office at 605 N. Capital Avenue in Idaho Falls.

Evaluations should be returned to the Trial Court Administrator’s office no later than 5 p.m. October 16.

Correction: The body of this story was corrected to show that Sean Bartholick is currently employed by a Rexburg law firm.
