Senior citizens help make bowls for upcoming Empty Bowls event

Nuclear Care Partners and Idaho Falls Good Samaritans have started creating bowls for the upcoming Empty Bowls event.

For the fourth time, this summer-community volunteers and residents from the Idaho Falls Senior Citizen Center are painting more than 300 ceramic bowls that will be used at the Empty Bowls event.

For $15, you will get one of these bowls filled with soup, a dessert and a beverage, and you will get to keep the bowl.

The proceeds from Empty Bowl will go to Meals on Wheels.

Good Samaritan Society Director of Communications Jeanie Brady thinks including the senior citizens on the bowl painting makes this year special.

“The pride they’re taking to be elderly and disabled people, and here they are out helping the community by painting bowls so that they can help make money for people that are also elderly and disabled,” Brady said.

The Empty Bowls event will occur on October 10 at the IF Senior Citizens Center at 535 W 21st St, Idaho Falls from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
