Bannock County appraisal process moves forward

KIFI

The Bannock County Assessor’s Office plans to complete 400 property reappraisals every week until the end of April. Under that schedule, the office should bring its reappraisal schedule current and allow appraisers enough time to analyze and prepare the 2020 assessment notices.

The schedule is part of a plan recently approved by the Idaho State Tax Commission.

Under state law, each county must carry out a 5-year reappraisal program that reappraises 20% of all parcels every year.

The remaining 80% of non-appraised parcels are indexed to reflect current market value. In that way, all taxable property will be appraised to approximate market value every year.

The plan is aimed at bringing all Bannock County up to proper market values.
