Shooting suspect filed $9M tort claim against city in Idaho
A man shot by Idaho police officers has filed a tort claim seeking $9 million in damages after he had his legs amputated after the shooting.
The Spokesman-Review reported Monday 19-year-old Tyler Rambo and his attorney Rick Baughman filed the claim Friday against the city of Coeur d’Alene after he was shot multiple times July 4.
Authorities say Rambo remains in custody on $1 million bond under charges of attempted murder and assault stemming from an alleged fight and shooting prior to confrontation with officers.
Police chief Lee White says officers attempted to stop Rambo with a shock from a stun gun before he fired at officers.
Baughman says the shock caused Rambo to involuntarily discharge a gun near police before they opened fire.
The city attorney declined comment.
