Antenna viewers may need to rescan their TVs

People in Pocatello who receive TV stations through an over-the-air antenna will need to rescan their television set soon.

A new TV transmitter was recently installed on Howard Mountain west of Pocatello.  It will broadcast the signals of KIFI Local News 8, KIDK Eyewitness News 3, and KXPI Fox 5 for the Pocatello and surrounding area.

It is scheduled to begin transmitting at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2020.

The switch is part of an FCC mandate to move certain TV channels to a new frequency.

It is because of that change people will need to rescan their television set after January 17.

Check your TV’s owner’s manual on how to rescan them.  You can learn more about the process at tvanswers.org.
