Firearm found at Thunder Ridge High School

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - A report of a firearm found at Thunder Ridge High School in Bonneville County.

Principal Doug McLaren sent out a message explaining the situation.

It happened Tuesday afternoon, after school had ended.

In the message, it said they received a report that a gun had been discovered inside of a handbag belonging to a staff member at the school.

The school resource officer secured the gun and began an investigation.

Preliminary results indicate there was no intentional threat toward students or employees related to the gun.

Idaho state law and the policy of the board of trustees prohibit any individuals from carrying guns or other dangerous weapons onto school grounds.

At this time, they are responding to the situation as a violation of that policy.
