Join the City of Chubbuck for 65th annual “Chubbuck Days” Celebration August 7-8

CHUBBUCK, Idaho (KIFI) – The "Chubbuck Days" celebration is back for the weekend in Chubbuck, a summer bash filled with family fun, movies and parades for the community. The celebrations kick off Friday August 7, with the family movie night at Stuart Park.

Simplot is sponsoring the movie night, which begins at dusk (approx. 9 p.m.) and will be the movie "Hoppers," with free fries available for attendees. Saturday, August 8 will begin with the Chubbuck Days Parade, featuring 50 float entries.

"The parade starts at 10 a.m. and it goes down Hawthorne and Chubbuck roads," said Kami Berger, Public Works Operations Manager for the City of Chubbuck. "The festival kicks off here at Cotant Park at 11 a.m."

The festival at Cotant Park will go until 3 p.m. and feature over 65 local vendors, food trucks, and bounce houses. There is also a car show and a free watermelon feed. The police department will also have a dunk tank to dunk an officer and Mayor Burch as well as the city council will be present.

"The Pocatello City Council and County Commissioners and the ISU President Wagner will all join in the parade with us," Berger said. "We'll have lots of different local businesses here and food vendors like Dippin' Dots ice cream and snow cones."

The Chubbuck Days celebration has been going since 1960, with only one year off for COVID, making this the 65th annual event. This year is also special because it jointly celebrates AMERICA250.

Berger said city staff will have department booths at the festival so employees can engage with residents and answer any questions from the community.

"If you want to talk about your utility bill or find out about our 2027 budget, we will be here to answer those questions," she said. "Even with these increasing temperatures, I think it's something fun to do and get out of the house, see your neighbors and friends and a lot of businesses you might not even know about."

This is Mayor Rodney Burch's first Chubbuck Days celebration, and Berger said he's focused on representing the entire Portneuf Valley. Burch is committed to showing the partnerships Chubbuck has with the City of Pocatello, Idaho State University and Bannock County.

The movie, parade, car show and festival are all free to attend.
