Seniors show off their skills at 3rd Annual Synergy Home Care Senior Talent Show

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) – For the third year in a row, Synergy Home Care provided seniors in the community with the opportunity to show off their musical and artistic skills at the Senior Talent Show. This year, the show was at the Brickyard Event Center, providing the crowd with a larger space and the performers with a real stage.

The showcase included all kinds of performances. The seniors who created paintings, quilts, crochet crafts and other artwork displayed the pieces outside the performance hall. Inside, senior community members played the piano and harp, sang in groups and individually, and gave live demostrations.

Emmanuel Ohene Opare is the co-owner of Synergy Home Care and says people often underestimate the abilities of seniors.

"Seniors are a vibrant part of our community," Opare said. "There's a lot of wisdom, there's a lot of talent, there's a lot of things that we can glean and learn from them."

By hosting the talent show, it's a way to honor the seniors' hard work they put in throughout the year on their artwork and performances. Opare said they have outgrown past venues with the number of performers and team members at Synergy who come together to make the event happen.

"We will definitely continue doing this in the future," Opare said. "It's a lot of fun and it's something to really celebrate the seniors who have done wonderful work in the past, present and what they will accomplish in the future."

The staff at Synergy wanted to emphasize that if the seniors can do it, anyone can. The gifts and talents shared by the seniors are nothing short of inspiring at the show.

"The more of those gifts and talents that we can share with the word, it ripples out and blesses others," Opare said. "With the participation here today, I would definitely say I have been touched just by watching."

Opare's team agreed they love to see the smiles on the seniors' faces when they watch each other perform and when they perform themselves.

"I'm so happy to see seniors doing things they loved doing when they were young, it's an opportunity for them to show they are older, stronger, and still capable of doing something they love," said one Synergy Home Care associate.
