Quick-thinking Officer rescues Jackson family from house fire

KIFI

JACKSON, Idaho (KIFI) — A Jackson family is safe and unharmed after a police officer rescued them from a house fire on Flat Creek Drive on Thursday morning.

Jackson Police Officer Liam Fowler was on patrol just after 9:00 a.m. when he spotted smoke coming from the home, according to Jackson Hole Fire/EMS. Fowler immediately rushed inside and evacuated the family.

Assisting officers arrived just 10 minutes later, as flames from an exterior deck quickly spread into the attic. Firefighters arrived shortly after, tackling the blaze on the exterior of the house before moving indoors to extinguish the remaining fire.

The Jackson Fire Department says Officer Fowler's quick action prevented any loss of life and additional damage to the home.

"I'm proud of the coordinated response from Teton County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers, Jackson Police officers, and firefighters," said Incident Commander Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Battalion Chief Chris Stiehl in a news release. " They safely and efficiently mitigated the fire, keeping firefighter and public safety as the top priority.”
