News organizations have trust issues as they gear up to cover another election, a poll finds

NEW YORK (AP) — Americans have a message for news organizations as they prepare to cover the 2024 election: About half of Americans say they’re concerned that outlets will report inaccuracies or misinformation. Roughly 4 in 10 say they’re worried about outlets using generative artificial intelligence to write election news. Attitudes toward the media and political news ahead of the election were explored in a poll from the American Press Institute and The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. Press Institute CEO Michael Bolden says the poll results show news organizations need to let people know more about their role in the community to build trust.
