Felony suspect arrested in Blackfoot

BLACKFOOT, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - A wanted felon was arrested at a vacant Blackfoot home Tuesday.

Blackfoot Police and the Bingham County Sheriff's Office were called to the vicinity of North Stout and Francis Street when Roger E. Simpson, 31, was seen in the area. According to reports, Simpson was in possession of a firearm.

Officers determined Simpson had entered a vacant residence and was hiding from police.

Residents of the area were evacuated for their safety. Independence High School, located about one block away, was issued a "Shelter in Place" order as a precaution.

Simpson was called out of the house and taken into custody on a felony warrant a short time later. He was booked into the Bingham County Jail on the felony warrant and additional charges of Resisting and Obstructing and Unlawful Entry.
