Boise woman gets up to 30 years for crash that killed child
BOISE, Idaho (AP) - A Boise woman has been sentenced to up to 30 years in prison for driving under the influence in a crash that killed a 3-year-old girl and left three others injured.
Prosecutors said Anna Mihelich, 54, was under the influence of drugs when she crashed head-on into another vehicle on a Boise city street on July 2, 2019. The crash injured all four people in the other car, and the young girl succumbed to her injuries.
Mihelich was originally charged with four counts of aggravated driving under the influence, but pleaded guilty to two counts as part of a plea deal.
Fourth District Judge Steven Hippler sentenced Mihelich Friday to up to 30 years in prison, saying she will be eligible for parole after serving at least seven years. Mihelich's drivers license was also suspended for 10 years.
