Police shoot man holding crowbar near Salt Lake City

MGN Online

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah police shot a man they say had a crowbar and was breaking windows near Salt Lake City.

The West Valley City Police Department say they got a call around 1:30 a.m. Monday that a man had a metal object and was possibly trying to break into homes.

A police spokesperson tells KSTU-TV when officers encountered the man, they used a Taser on him, and when that was not successful, officers shot the man.

It is not yet clear what exactly led up to the shooting.

The man was taken to the hospital for surgery and is expected to survive.
