Search warrant in Idaho Falls hotel results in drug arrest
BONNEVILLE COUNTY, Idaho (KIFI) - Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two adults after finding fentanyl pills and cocaine in a hotel room Tuesday.
As part of an ongoing investigation, deputies obtained a search warrant for a hotel room at the Le Ritz Hotel on Lindsay Blvd. in Idaho Falls. Just after 11 a.m., deputies and an Idaho Falls Police officer made entry into the room and detained three adults, two of which were identified as 26-year-old Sadie Jo Richards of Idaho Falls and 30-year-old Gustavo Sedano-Olivas of Tetonia.
As a safety precaution, Idaho Falls Ambulance was called to check Sedano-Olivas as he was found asleep on the bed and showing multiple signs of being under the influence of narcotics.
During a search of the room, deputies identified a carry bag believed to belong to Richards and located items of drug paraphernalia, a small baggie with just more than a half gram of cocaine and two separate baggies with multiple fentanyl or “Dirty 30” pills inside weighing more than six grams total. A separate bag that appeared to belong to Sedano-Olivas contained more drug paraphernalia and four separate baggies with multiple fentanyl “Dirty 30” pills inside, altogether weighing more than 80 grams. Just over $1,000 cash was located with the fentanyl and seized as evidence along with narcotics and paraphernalia.
The third male inside the room was released from the scene pending further investigation into his involvement with the hotel room.
Richards was transported to the Bonneville County Jail where she was booked on two felony charges for possession of fentanyl and possession of cocaine and a misdemeanor charge for possession of drug paraphernalia.
After being cleared by ambulance personnel, Sedano-Olivas was also transported to the Bonneville County Jail and booked for two outstanding felony warrants, a third warrant for failure to appear at a hearing and a new felony charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
This incident adds to the more than 100,000 fentanyl pills seized by law enforcement in Bonneville County this year. The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office continues to remind the public fentanyl is highly lethal and is a factor in multiple overdose cases and deaths in our area over the past several years.
