Man suspected of shooting Ada County deputy identified

BOISE, Idaho (KIFI) - The Ada County Coroner has identified the man suspected of shooting Ada County Sheriff's Deputy Tobin Bolter.

65-year-old Dennis Mulqueen of Boise, Idaho died of a gunshot wound to the chest at St. Alphonsus Hospital early Sunday morning.

Deputy Tobin Bolter was shot during a routine traffic stop on Saturday night at about 9 PM as he approached the driver’s window at about 9 p.m. Saturday in Boise. The suspect fled.

Boise police were attempting to take Mulqueen into custody around midnight Sunday when he fired at officers. One officer returned fire. Officers provided medical aid. Mulqueen was transported to the hospital from the intersection of W. Dorian St. and S. Roosevelt St. in Boise, according to the coroner's report.

Life-saving measures were unsuccessful and Mulqueen was pronounced dead in the emergency department.
