Lightning causes several fires in southern Idaho

LINCOLN COUNTY, Idaho (KIFI)— Fire crews in the Twin Falls district are dealing with several lightning-caused fires from storms that blew through Monday night.

The largest fire is the Wildhorse Fire, which has burned approximately 4,000 acres in Lincoln County. The fire started around 5 p.m. Monday about 10 miles north of Kimama. They said the terrain is making it difficult for crews to get to the fire. They are having to deal with lava blisters and flows to get around. They said they will use aircraft assistance to help with suppression.

The Tuana Gulch Fire is burning about 5 miles south of Bliss and is estimated to be around 2,700 acres. Multiple agencies are helping with this fire. They estimate containment at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday night.

The West Windmill fire is burning about 6 miles south of Bliss and has burned approximately 150 acres. They have this fire under control by noon on Tuesday.
