Pancheri Drive reopens after gas leak

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - UPDATE 4:33 p.m.: Pancheri Drive has been reopened. The Idaho Falls Fire Department said crews were able to repair the gas leak much sooner than anticipated.


UPDATE 4:15 p.m. The Idaho Falls Fire Department say all lanes of traffic have been closed on Pancheri Drive from Milligan Road/Riverwalk Drive west to S Utah Avenue.

Traffic is being detoured after a main gas line was hit just after 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Intermountain Gas is working on bypassing the line, but officiald are expecting an extended road closure as repairs are made.

All businesses in the area remain open.


ORIGINAL: The Idaho Falls Fire Department says to avoid Pancheri Drive between S Capital Avenue and S Utah Avenue.

Officials are closing the eastbound lanes to address a gas leak in the area. Construction crews were working in the area when they hit a main line.

Please slow down and use caution as detours are in place.

The estimated time for the leak to be repaired is unknown at this time, but Intermountain Gas has been notified.

There are no evacuations, no injuries and no threat to public.
