Reward offered for Community Food Basket property burglary

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - UPDATE 3/20/23: East Idaho Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for burglarizing the Community Food Basket property.

The Community Food Basket owns a property at 351 W 14th Street in Idaho Falls. On March 9, 2023, staff at the Community Food Basket reported a burglary had occurred sometime between 3 p.m. on March 8 and 9:30 a.m. on March 9. A window was broken in order for the suspect to force entry into the building and miscellaneous items were taken from the property.

Anyone with information that could assist in this case is invited to call the Idaho Falls Police Department at (208)529-1200, or can report the information anonymously to Crime Stoppers at www.ifcrime.org. Tipsters who report information through Crime Stoppers, anonymously or not, may be eligible for the $1,000 reward if it leads to a successful arrest.


ORIGINAL 3/9/23: The Idaho Falls Community Food Basket is asking for help to find those who broke into its recently donated building.

The food basket shared pictures on Facebook and said the break-in happened sometime Wedensday night.

The thieves threw a tire jack through a window.

The food basket staff said they are heart broken by this incident, and they are sad they will now have to use money that was planned for services to install a security system instead.
