Sunday Blessings hits the airwaves with familiar voice
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - Three years after retiring from four decades of TV news broadcasting right here on Local News 8, Jay Hildebrandt is back. This time on the radio.
His familiar voice will once again be taking to the airwaves. Former news anchor Hildebrandt will be hosting a new spiritually based local program that will replace the syndicated Sounds of Sunday.
"The show is called Sunday Blessings, and it's a program that goes from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. with basically uplifting music and inspirational messages, and it's designed to really set the tone for SabbathDay worship for people, individuals for their families as they're at home and in the car just to feel the spirit of Sunday," he said.
For Hildebrandt, this is a return not only to broadcasting, but it returned to some of his deepest roots. He started in radio when he was just 12 years old. Then, hosted a program when he was a student at BYU, and now he's looking forward to coming home.
"This is really a dream come true for me because it combines three of my passions, my faith, music, which I love greatly, and I've loved broadcasting my whole career. To combine those three into one element like this as, like I say, been a dream come true for me," he said.
He says the goal is to have the music and messages appeal to people of all ages, faiths and denominations. Anyone who enjoys uplifting music and stories and they start with some real star power.
Hildebrandt's first guest is local celebrity Paige Anne, who will sing and talk about how her faith helped her through the stresses of being a contestant on American Idol.
"We're inviting local artists who have christian based music that they have recorded professionally, that they feel might be beneficial to other people to listen to. To reach out, we're gonna play some of their music too, and we're going to interview them about just what their inspiration was behind that music."
So if you're looking to be inspired on Sundays, Sunday Blessings airs Sundays on KLCE 97.
