FAA is forcing Old Butte Park to relocate

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - The Federal Aviation Administration is making the soccer fields of Old Butte Park move. This includes the fields between N 26th W and Clarence Drive just to the southwest of the runway of the Idaho Falls Airport. These fields need to be vacated by the end of 2026.

The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation is now hoping to build off of the fields they currently have just off to the north side of US 20/Broadway Street. They are wishing to expand Ernest Drive further north. By doing so, they can put more youth fields off of that street just to the north side of the fields off of US 20.

Parks and Recreation also wants to take this construction time to put in a walking trail and restrooms for the facility as a part of this project.

The total project is estimated at around $5.5 million. The funding for the project has not been planned out yet.
